There are many ways that Hemp Can Save The World:
We highlight the top 5!
1. Reduce deharvestation of the Worlds Forests!
Harvest Hemp instead of Trees.
Although world wide deforestation has slowed in the past few years, the Amazon, the world’s largest rainforest, has seen an increase of 17% last year (2020).
Wildfires, beef production and logging, cleared areas roughly the size of El Salvador, a total area of 21,041 km2 (8,124 sq mi), according to new data published on April 7, 2021.
- Right now, trees absorb about a third of the planet-warming carbon emissions produced worldwide.
- Hemp can easily replace trees as the source of raw material for wood and paper.
- One acre of hemp can produce as much paper per year as four acres of trees.
- Trees take many years to mature but hemp can be grown and harvested within months!
- Hemp paper is also more durable than paper produced from trees.
This seems like any easy decision to make. Harvest Hemp instead of Trees and potentially save the world!

2. Make Biodegradable Plastics from Hemp instead of Oil
The benefits of infusing hemp fibers instead of oil to make plastics are incredible. Here are a few:
- Decomposition can happen as fast as 5 years, as opposed to 1,000 years.
- Hemp based products are lighter.
- More durable.
- Fireproof
- Mold resistant (above ground)
- Non toxic
- Waterproof
3. Hemp absorbs/removes toxic chemicals from the soil
Hemp readily absorbs many man made pollutants and heavy metals through its large root system and stores them, making it then possible to remove the hemp and the hazardous compounds with it.
- Roots of the hemp plant reach anywhere from 1.5 feet to 3 feet underground
- Hemp absorbs heavy metals such as Lead, Nickel, Cadnium, Selenium.
- They even used Hemp to help clean the radiation contamination around the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in the Ukraine.
4. Water Conservation
Most of our clothes are made from conventionally produced cotton that use massive amounts of pesticides and freshwater. Hemp requires minimal irrigation in comparison to cotton.
- cotton needs approx. 5300 gallons (20,063 litres) of water in order to produce 2.2 pounds (1kg)
- hemp needs approx. 90 gallons (340 litres) of water in order to produce 2.2 pounds (1kg)
On top of the much lower water requirement, Hemp uses approximately half the amount of land to produce the same output.
5. Help Prevent World Hunger
” Every day too many men and women across the globe struggle to feed their children a nutritious meal. In a world where we produce enough food to feed everyone, 690 million people still go to bed on an empty stomach each night. Acute food insecurity affected 135 million people in 55 countries in 2019. Even more, one in three, suffer from some form of malnutrition.” – United Nations World Food Program
- Hemp can be grown almost anywhere in the world.
- it is inexpensive to grow
- Hemp seeds are versatile and can be eaten raw, pressed into oil or ground into flour
- the seeds are so dense with nutrients that they are classified as a Superfood!
